How racially equal is Britain?

Many political commentators and journalists see the problems associated with multiculturalism stemming from the fact that people should have a common shared culture rather than emphasise and celebrate their differences which is what multiculturalism is about as a political policy and ideology, however it can be argued that the continued problems with multiculturalism in Britain is more to do with the failure of race relations in general.
